As California’s famed Santa Ana winds ushered in this new year, my beloved wife and I stood in the brisk air of the Pacific far below. I vowed only an act of God could take this slice of heaven from us. And by nightfall of that very day, years of negligence by the grifter politicians who run our state had come to soul-crushing fruition. Sixteen thousand homes and 28 of my fellow citizens had been lost in the inferno. Lying awake nights, I could barely breathe. Only when I pictured in my mind’s eye the tales of terror and retribution that I had thrilled to as a boy, was I able to soothe the torment. Then one long night I reached like a gunslinger, not for a six-shooter and a Stetson, but for my pen and notebook, and scribbled these two words…

At daybreak I fired off a call to my producing partner and cherished friend, Shooter Jennings. Together we corralled a wildly unappreciated composer and singer named Bob Wayne. Shooter then complicated things by suggesting we try a cool concept: a “neo noir western!” And now we hope you’re as excited as we are by the strange twists and turns, by the mythic tale of terror on the plains, the evil in the dark hearts of men, and the soaring power of love and courage in the face of insurmountable odds.

Produced by Shooter Jennings and James Woods, lyrics by James Woods, music by Bob Wayne, art direction by Sara Miller-Woods.
